Amur Leopards
The Amur Leopard is in desperate need of help because there are about 30 Amur Leopards left in the entire world. “WCS has assisted Russian scientists in snow-track surveys to estimate leopard density and distribution since 1997. Results from these efforts and camera-trap surveys indicate a small but stable population of around 30 leopards remains in Russia.” (“Amur Leopard”). Amur Leopard is classified as: Class: Mammalia
Order: Carnivora, Family: Felidae, Genus: Panthera, Species: pardus, Subspecies: orientalis. All of the leopards’ subspecies( including Amur Leopard) are endangered wild animals. Amur Leopards have been critically endangered since 1996. These leopards are located in the southeastern part of Russia and northeastern China. Amur Leopards are one of the world’s most endangered subspecies.
